The Yoshitomo Nara Walk On Flip Clock

Click image for larger version Name:	walkon-17.jpg Views:	1 Size:	72.3 KB ID:	5936 If you spend any time at all on eBay searching for flip clocks, you've run across this unusual flip clock, I'm sure.
It's often listed as a Pata Pata Walk On Yoshitomo Nara flip clock. I decided to take the time to try to figure out who this Yoshitomo Nara is, and what was up with this art work. The research led me to a young toy reviewer on the other side of the world. Check out the video below. If you like it, take the time visit her video (from where I extracted her display of the clock) and give her a thumbs up and maybe a comment that you cane from flipclockfans.com (see link at bottom).

Yoshitomo Nara - The Japanese neo-Pop Artist
Click image for larger version Name:	nara-image.jpg Views:	1 Size:	8.2 KB ID:	5939 Yoshitomo Nara is a Japanese artist born in 1959 in Hirosaki, Japan, who has become something of a franchise in Japan with his works represented in such items as sculptures, paintings, t-shirts, and stuff toys. He is considered one of the fathers and current central figures of the Japanese neo-Pop art movement. Many art critics assert that he was influenced by popular culture elements such as anime, manga, Walt Disney cartoons, and punk rock. He has a worldwide cult following, making him one of Japan's few globally recognized art celebrities.

Nara is known internationally mostly for his comic-style paintings and drawings of children, who some have claimed depict Japan’s “latchkey” children.

Yoshitomo Nara's paintings, sculptures, and drawings of these cute yet possibly sinister childlike characters are rendered with simple bold lines, primary colors, and are either set against empty backgrounds or depicted with English text - sometimes with obscenities, as well as knives, plants, and cardboard boxes, among other recurring elements.

About lammfromm - the concept store

I know this clock indeed! Thinking of buying one (if I can still find one) for my niece, as soon as she reaches that age where she will be learning to tell the time, which leaves me some years to find an affordable one :-)

I just the notice the '00'-minutes flap... ;-) Will have to junk a regular Twemco clock to replace it by a regular '00' flap

Maybe it'd be better just to paint over the words. You're going to lose 3 pictures if you trade out the 00
